Abstract
  • This research project evaluates the influence of the year-long CPE student's intrapersonal development upon his/her pastoral care functioning in a mental health teaching hospital. Project methodology included the engagement of two groups (four CPE students in each group) in a research testing program. Hypotheses which are developed from the data focus on the following areas: the significant relationship of self-development and pastoral care skills, the 'being and doing' polarity in the CPE process, interpersonalism, mid-year intrapersonal crises, sensitivity to the feelings of other persons, values, age factors in CPE student peer group, and commonalities/differences in student peer relationships.
