  • This project develops a strategy of ministry and church integration for persons with physical disabilities. Although the strategy targets primarily members of the Challenge Center, it may also influence others in the surrounding community who have physical disabilities. The project defines the problem, reviews current biblical, theological, sociological, psychological, and popular literature, and administers a survey of the Challenge Center population. This research reveals that although disability can lead to greater faith, disabled persons report greater alienation from the church than is present among members of the general public. Based on this research the project proposes a whole-person strategy of ministry and church integration, employing education and encounter, to be implemented by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation specialists and chaplains.
