  • Extraction evangelism continues. This study explored how disciples of Jesus Christ from upper-caste Hindu and Jain Gujarati backgrounds (outside India) perceive their experiences of opposition from family and community/caste, resulting in alienation, during the time they were being evangelized. Research combined interviews of Gujarati believers (from the UK and Africa) with interviews of two missionaries. Believers reported receiving little guidance for discussing their journey with family members. Negative reactions came when individuals professed faith in Christ. Intense relational breakdown was short-lived. Subjects described low-intensity but significant long-term alienation, and little opposition during the period evangelism was being done.
