Abstract
  • Building the foundations for a multicultural congregation is a participant-observer process that requires some clear theoretical constructs to guide the transformation of a congregation's identity. Since the biblical record provides diverse perspectives on multiculturalism, scripture must be excavated for a vision of multiculturalism as a faithful response to God. Although there is no one way to develop a multicultural church, and since the struggle for a diverse identity is constitutive of a new identity, the congregation needs some formal programmatic steps whereby it embarks on the building journey.
