  • To reclaim the distinct emphasis for which God raised up the Methodists will require the faithful reiteration of the full gospel each time the faith community gathers for worship, instruction and praxis. The theological emphases of the church year are compressed and held in tension with the six 'deadly sins' which Wesley feared would threaten Methodism. A twelve-item pencil-and-paper test for lay response was tested at seven churches to measure how effectively the full gospel was being proclaimed and received in worship. A six-item planning and discernment tool was also developed.
