Abstrakt

The author argues that plural or team ministry is the pattern found in the New Testament and that this pattern is linked to the pastor's task of equipping believers for ministry. The project surveys the terms 'bishop,' 'elder,' 'deacon,' and 'pastor' in the New Testament as well as theological concepts related to ministry, such as calling, ordination, the priesthod of all believers, and authority. A survey of current thinking on team ministry/equipping is included as well as a model of team ministry/equipping for application in a local church. The model links discipling, training, and development as elements in equipping.
