Abstrakt

The thesis of this project was that Holy Communion is an aspect of the pastoral care function of reconciliation. The first part of the project was an examination of the meaning of reconciliation followed by a study of the meaning of the sacrament of Holy Communion in relation to reconciliation. The second part was a fourteen session study with leaders of a Presbyerian congregation. The group planned three communion services for corporate worship and surveyed the congregation following the services. The thesis was affirmed, and the session of the congregation increased the frequency of observing communion from six to twelve times annually and made changes in the way communion was observed.
