Abstract
  • This thesis designs a workshop to provide ongoing preaching formation for diaconal and lay preachers by linking the fields of adult education philosophy and preaching formation. The author examines the differences between education and formation and the need for ongoing preaching formation in a specific diocese (Monterey, California) and in the Church; researches two populations to link analysis of Catholic Church documents with actual preachers and, from that research, to propose workshop themes of reflection, practice, and community; develops workshop themes into practices for a two-weekend series; and provides two tools for assessing workshop effectiveness and developing future programs.
