Abstrakt

This project examines the influence and value of sermons preached to children for the congregation of overhearers during public worship in English Congregational United Church of Christ (Big Rock, Ill). Based on research in theology, education, and storytelling, the project prepares and preaches pairs of narrative sermons on lectionary texts for children and adults, identifying 10 distinct features of the children's message through congregational surveys, individual interviews, and journaling.
