Abstrakt

The thesis-project is a counseling primer to aid pastors in counseling parents and children who are involved in custody litigation and post-divorce adjustment. The emotional impact upon children and parents is presented. The biblical-theological foundations of post-divorce adjustment are viewed with the aspect of forgiveness as a primary element in adjustment and decreasing stress in the post-divorce period. Research was accomplished through a library survey of behavioral science and legal data, along with interviews of family counselors and judges. A team counseling model is suggested to decrease additional stress in the post-divorce adjustment period.
