  • This project proposed that biblical preaching can be used effectively to assist new believers to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. To test this thesis, a series of twelve biblical sermons on discipleship was preached at Crowfield Baptist Church, Goose Creek, South Carolina. A focus group of 16 persons was administered a pretest and posttest to determine the effectiveness of the preaching series in increasing listeners' knowledge of biblical teachings on discipleship, and upon their personal state of discipleship. Improvements in discipleship knowledge and commitment was documented in various subgroups within the focus group and in the group overall.
