Abstrakt

This project examines why Sydney Anglican churches struggle to grow beyond 200. Of 270 churches, only four have done so in a decade. After developing a theological framework in which reaching the lost is paramount, fieldwork is conducted. The significant identified factors include the ability to shift relational connectedness to smaller groups; effective (and often new) visionary leadership that is focused on the lost; a focus on welcoming, integration, small groups, and children's ministries; the increasing of the quality of services and programs; a suitably gifted specialist staff; staff driven decision making approach; a willingness to innovate; and the expansion of facilities.
