Abstract
  • New church members bring with them their expectations, a need for incorporation, and a readiness to grow in faith. The design of learning experiences begins with an interview to elicit expectations and a period of guided individual learning with a sponsor. Then, group meetings explore faith and Christian living. Daily Bible readings expand each meeting theme during the week. Participants expressed six types of expectations which motivated their learnings, and their growth is correlated to Fowler's faith development theory. Evaluation of the design includes comments on revision and on transferability.
