Abstrakt

This project provides a historical overview of the development of the Vatican II Three Year Lectionary. It includes a discussion of how the lectionary has been adapted by various denominations throughout the world. The study examines the lectionary's pre-suppositions and principles of composition. It compares and analyzes the form of the Three Year Lectionary in An Australian Prayer Book (1978) and the Alternative Tables of Lessons (1985). The text includes the results of an Australian Anglican use of the lectionary. Practical guidelines are provided for a more intelligible and creative use of the Three Year Lectionary.
