  • The goal of this project is to develop the significance of the concept of coherence within the curricular and co-curricular programs of a small United Methodist-related liberal arts college as a basis for embodying a viable claim to church-relatedness. Methodologically project data was derived from survey and interview material using one school as a case study. The statistical analysis was related to church-relatedness and coherence by reviews of literature in the fields of theology, epistemology, faith development, church-relatedness, and college curriculum development. The findings supported the important role of curricular and co-curricular coherence in church-related higher education. A model for imaging coherence and church-relatedness was offered along with alternative curricula for incorporating coherence within the curricular structure of the college.
