- The question of why new church developments (NCDs) encounter growth plateaus is one that Presbyterians, who are interested in organizing new churches, must address. This project focuses on the contribution a Reformed understanding of mission plays in helping NCDs transition from a pastoral-size congregation to a program-size congregation. Utilizing six organizing pastors, this project surveyed how a Reformed understanding of mission assisted six NCDs in this transition. The results showed that a Reformed understanding of mission is a central contributing factor assisting NDCs in the transition from a pastoral-size to program-size congregation.
