  • This project was designed to aid the spiritual formation of lay persons through their participation in a modified version of John Wesley's class meeting. Wesley's class meeting format and his ordo salutis, the patristic concept of prayer, disciplined living and the struggle with the 'passions' and contemporary understandings that spirituality involves the whole of one's being undergirded the project. The goal was that through this experience participants would confirm and strengthen their responses to the gospel. Each person agreed to 1) attend the weekly class meetings; 2) practice daily scriptural meditation and prayer; and 3) take a God-experience survey before and after the sessions.
