  • This project traces the background and work of Anglican missionaries in the Diocese of Spokane. It discusses the colonial Anglican church's lack of a missionary bishop as one of the underlying causes of the Revolution. The project also covers the Episcopal Church's inadequate Indian missions, even though the first missionary for Spokane was an Indian. It traces missions of Tuttle, Talbot, Wells, Paddock and others in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington and concludes that 19th century missions were more effective than modern ones, using a suburban area in the 1950's and 1960's as a comparison.
