  • The act of covenant ministry that served as the project involved fifteen United Methodist clergy-persons from the North Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church. The project was designed as a microcosm of the United Methodist connectional and itinerant ministry. It included a district superintendent as a representative of the appointed hierarchy. These clergy-persons represented a broad spectrum of types of appointments, race, gender and age. Their formal theological training and theological orientation represented five different seminaries. Approximately forty hours were spent exploring, testing and attempting to experience a Christian covenant community. Concepts of authority, obedience, servanthood, mutuality, giftedness and ethics and their meaning in the context of ministry were explored.
