- This study examined how a feedback process influences the relationship between local church leaders and their clergy in Southern Baptist churches. The research method employed was a qualitative examination that primarily utilized the focus group method. The author identified four summary lessons from the research. There is a considerable need among Southern Baptist churches in Illinois for clergy evaluation processes. There are successful feedback models that look very different. A lay-involved process is stronger because it engages the opinions of laity and encourages teamwork. Finally, a feedback process is more developmentally valuable when clergy desire to be evaluated.
